It’s almost upon us… the month that I usually forget about because, as far as I’m concerned, every month is “Me Made Month” in my house…
As intended, that may not be totally true. This started on Instagram as more of a fashion challenge to show off a collection, akin to All Dress April or Octieber: every day of May you wear and post an outfit of clothes that you made. Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t make everything in my wardrobe!
However, a very generous grandmother of a friend has given me boxes and bags of apparel fabrics when she downsized her stash. I’m not that much of an apparel sewist, but that doesn’t mean I couldn’t be! I started looking for an excuse to hone my skills, and what better motivation than a month-long social media challenge?
My goal is to make a whole outfit (and wear it out somewhere) every week of May. I’m limiting myself to my stash of apparel fabrics. I’m also going to attempt to limit myself to my pattern stash, but if I get a really good idea that requires a new pattern, all bets are off. I’m also going to document my journey with some vlog posts, for something new! Stay tuned here for those.
Are you doing a Me Made May challenge of your own this year? Whether it’s more traditional or otherwise, I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
I plan to walk around for the month with one of my boys on my arm! 🙂
