Lucky Overalls

Éirinn go Brách! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I, myself, am not Irish, but I did have an Irish Catholic grandpa. Mom is also really into that part of her family history. It’s always been a big holiday in our home!

So, when I was gifted a bunch of apparel fabrics, and I found a few yards of bright green linen, I knew it was going to have to be something special for St. Patrick’s. Local designer Carina Spencer made a pair of Yanta Overalls she wears often on Instagram, and I thought that would be the perfect pattern.

I had JUST enough fabric. Like, the only scraps I had were the cut-outs. I’ve never had such pinpoint bidding on fabric I purchased, let alone something out of someone else’s stash. I think it was meant to be!

Don’t look too close, because they came out just a little too big. I added these darts to the back, but their even, so the average person couldn’t tell, I don’t think. I love them and I will wear them. That’s all that matters.

I also have these (slightly uneven) little pockets on the bib, which is one of the things I fell in love with on the paper pattern. I just love the idea of being the quirky, colored-overalls girl who writes in a little notebook she keeps in her pocket… Dreams can come true!

Looking forward to enjoying all the green and sunshine!
