Okay. The title is a bit misleading.
Year of Stitch is on sampler #7. I am not halfway through samplers #4 and #5.
However, I had a big reason to improve my embroidery skills this year. If you’ve been reading along, you know that two of my very good friends got married last weekend. This is the same couple that I was commissioned to make an embroidery for their engagement.
Ben is a stupidly talented artist, and he made an adorable sketch of the two of them for their save-the-dates. I knew as soon as I saw it that it had to be their wedding present.

I’m so thrilled with it. Because I had already done something similar once before, I made a point to get the font and spacing as close to the original pieces as possible. I also have to rescind my semi-positive review of the stabilizer I started this challenge with. There was a lot of fine detail in this piece, and as soon as I started stitching, it started flaking off. Pretty stressful, but I think it all worked out in the end!

Now that this is finished and with the happy couple, I’ll get back on the samplers soon… hopefully… probably…
