I was born, raised, and currently live in the Kansas City metro area, so the Wizards (Sporting), the Royals, and the Chiefs have been my teams my whole life. Unfortunately, that means I’ve seen some pretty rough seasons, but I’ve seen a few great ones, too! I’ve seen Sporting win an MLS cup, the Royals win a World Series, and now there’s a chance to see the Chiefs in a Super Bowl.
Like many sports enthusiasts, my friends, family, and I are superstitious as all get out. I salute Bad Luck Chuck and all he did to help the cause. During last Sunday’s game, we were changing clothes and seating positions before the end of the first quarter, and I once again found myself clinging to a lucky project.
I had meant to work on my Valentine Mittens class sample, but when I opened the bag, I found one of the double-point needles in three pieces. Rather than not knit, I went out to the car to get the stoplight project: the Rebel Skull and Crossbones hat. That turned into a blessing, because from the second quarter on, I could not peel my eyes away from the tv for fear that I would mess up the mojo.
Now it’s my lucky Chiefs project this season! I’ve put it away until Sunday, as I don’t want a repeat of the 2017 NCAA tournament. I finished my lucky project at halftime and the Jayhawks went on to lose. So, none of that. Here’s hoping Chiefs Kingdom can keep the momentum going!
Do you have any lucky projects going on right now? I’d love to hear about them! Leave me a comment.
