Support Your Locals

Stimulus checks have been slowly rolling out, and I have a few friends, like me, who are fortunate enough to continue to work through this crazy time and are wondering what to do with theirs. Some really good options include putting it in savings, on the chance that you no longer find yourself employed during these crazy times, or donating it to a charity to help out the disenfranchised in our community who have been hit the hardest by this pandemic.

If you find yourself with some cash leftover after your chosen plan, I have one more suggestion: spend it at your local businesses. Yes, everyone is hurting right now, but more than likely McDonald’s will still be there when this is all over. It’s less certain for small businesses in your neighborhood. Not everyone is in a position to do this, but if you are, even a little purchase can make a world of difference.

So, go grab some takeout from that local place you like. Buy a gift card from your hair dresser, nail salon, or masseuse (you know you’re going to need it after all of this). Check out your LYS or local dyer’s online shops, as I’m positive there’s something you can’t live without there. Download a pattern from a designer you love.

Not to keep beating the old trope, but we truly are all in this together. Let’s help where we’re able.
