I’ve sung the praises of the Kansas City fiber community for a long time, for good reason. We have a great group of shops, dyers, and designers, so a lot of fun fiber happenings tend to come our way. This past weekend was one such weekend, where almost all our area shops were hosting great trunk shows. I managed to make it to two of them!
Unwind Fiber Arts has been open for a good long while, but this was the first time I made it physically in the shop! It’s a beautiful, with nice lighting and a grand selection of yarn. My friend Christine, of Treasure Goddess Yarn, hosted her trunk show there this weekend.

She dyed this beautiful custom colorway for the occasion. Of course, I had to leave with a skein.
Then I made it over to Yarn Social for the Stitch Three Together show!! It was so exciting to have these three dyers, LolaBean Yarn Co, Destination Yarn, and Kim Dyes Yarn, bring us their beautiful yarns to squish in person.
I bought a yarn from each dyer. My LolaBean and Destination yarns are going to be this fun Finding Home shawl. I’m not sure what I’m going to make with my Kim Dyes Yarn, but the color is called Briar Rose, so I was sold.
What would you make with one skein of a multi-color, plied, sock-weight merino? Let me know in the comments!
Looks wonderful! Both shops are very welcoming. I want to knit a sockhead slouch hat out of wonderfully colorful yarn, so that would be my choice.
