The Woolery Spin Along

Y’all know I love a challenge! So when the Woolery announced they’d be hosting a Spin Along focusing on consistency, I was immediately on board.

The challenge kicks off this week with two weeks each dedicated to a different breed: Shetland, Blue Faced Leicester, and Polwarth. The goal is to consistently spin a fingering, DK, and worsted weight yarn in each, then knit/crochet/weave swatches. So, consistency, but it’s also a breed study and fine-tuning skills to make sure we’re getting the exact yarn we want.

three bags of commercial top and a packet that says "Woolery Spin Along"

My plan is to take my 200g of each breed and divide that by four. I want to finish with a two-ply fingering, a two-ply DK, a two-ply worsted, and a three-ply worsted. Three ply is not something I have genuinely played with yet, and I would like to. Two-ply is the spinners bread and butter, but a three-ply has so much potential for knit and crochet projects.

I’ll be sure to do a post for each breed, so all of the knitty-gritty will be available to anyone who wants it. If you want to join me, you can find all the info on the Spin Along here. Very excited to bust the spinning wheel back out!
