On the Mend: Holey Exercise Pants, Batman

I like to run. It’s good exercise. I started running about six years ago, which is when I bought this pair of running tights.

Running tights are a must-have, and if you don’t already run, let me tell you they are very expensive. So, when I spotted a hole in these beloved tights, there was no question I was going to fix it.

It’s a little bit of a tricky fix, because they’re stretchy. On any other piece of clothing, I would have just stitched this little hole by hand. Running tights get pretty abused, though, and they have to go through the washer and dryer. Machine it is, then.

To really stabilize this hole, I took a knit jersey scrap (from my t-shirt fix!) and put it under the hole.

Then I stitched (in zigzag, as it is stretchy) on both sides of this busted seam and back over again.

Last step is to trim away the extra jersey.

And these pants are ready to run! Hopefully it’ll be nice enough outside I can run in the park tomorrow.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you’re all well and healthy.
