Creative Hand

The weekend before Thanksgiving is always a good one. You’re coming up on a short week, there’s Christmas music on the radio, and it’s always the Creative Hand Show and Sale in Old Town Shawnee.

The show is put on by the Kansas City Fiber and Weaver Guilds. It features a ton of handmade items to wear, for the home, and excellent gifts.

Of course, there’s always an excellent selection of hand-dyed and handspun yarn (including my friends at Th’red Head and Treasure Goddess), spinning fiber, and handmade fiber tools. I had a lot of fun explaining to a group of women how we use wraps-per-inch tools, nostepinnes, and niddy-noddys.

I can’t share what I got, since they’re all gifts (it is that time of year). Just know that I left with a few fun things, as I always do. If you didn’t make it this year, be sure to mark the weekend before Thanksgiving in your calendar for 2020!
