It’s really rough out here. I’m grabbing at every scrap of joy just to get out of bed in the morning. One such scrap has been “Wooble Mondays” with some of my family.
I got Ben a Minecraft Wooble for this last Christmas. He’s always loved handmade toys, and I figured he was old enough now that he would really appreciate making his own. I’ve said before, Woobles have fantastic how-to videos, but I promised Ben I would be there in case he needed extra support. Mom and Erin didn’t want to miss out on the fun, so now we get together almost every Monday to crochet a bit together.

Cut to the Woobles announcing a national tour of their Wooble Wagon: a giant blue van starting at the west coast and headed east across the US. We knew they’d be giving out Wooble kits, so we were very excited when Kansas City was listed as a stop. My hopes were a little dashed when they announced they’d actually be meeting in Hamilton, MO, about 70 miles away from KC proper. Erin and Mom didn’t care though: “How much earlier would we need to leave?”
We got there about an hour before the posted event time, and the line was already down the block. If I could tell little Emma that I roasted in line for an hour to get to a crochet party, she’d be so thrilled to hear there are enough local crocheters that a line would need to be formed.

And given the weather, everyone was surprising pleasant. We all got our free Woobles and other goodies. There was a gocha ball game you could play to win as many accessory kits as you can grab in ten seconds (only Ben walked away with any of our group!). I also played Plinko for some Wooble keychains and Wooble Wagon-exclusive stickers.

We also discovered the reason for the Hamilton location: Missouri Star Quilt Company has a partnership with the Woobles. They even made an exclusive Wooble of the Missouri Star mascot, Chuck the Duck. Had to get one of those, too, which added value to the trip.
Going to the Wooble Wagon with my Wooble Monday crew was on of the largest scraps of joy in our current hellscape I’ve had in a good, long while. They’re still on tour. If you have a chance to go, I would recommend it (and I recommend to get there early!).
