I don’t know about you, but I have been feeling the weight of these unprecedented times. I feel like screaming to the roof tops, but that may not be helpful or productive, especially in professional situations.
Did you hear about the study that found cursing to be a pain killer? I’d like to share one way I’m managing my pain if that’s true: my Four-Letter Word Coffee Sleeve.
A latte is a go-to treat of mine, especially if I’m needed in the office. I have a couple of sleeves lying around at any one time because:
- It’s one less paper sleeve in a landfill.
- It’s cozy and helps keep the drink warm a little longer.
- It’s aesthetically pleasing.
- They’re super quick to make (often with scrap yarn!)
I decided if I can’t scream my favorite four-letter words, I’d have them in my hand instead. This sleeve features five curse words in morse-code purls around the coffee sleeve.
If you’d like to make your own, here’s how:
Cast on 48 stitches with size 5 (3.75 mm) needles and a small amount of DK yarn. (I got 6 sts/in, but if your fabric is close and you like it, I say go for it. It’s just a coffee sleeve).
Purl a round.
Knit a round.
Purl a round.
From there, use this chart to knit the body of the sleeve:

Then purl a round.
Knit a round.
Bind off in purl.
It’s that simple! And yeah, maybe your coffee date won’t notice the vulgarity on your cup, but you’ll know it’s there. I don’t know about you, but that makes me smile.
