Y’all, I am beyond excited. Thanks to the format of the Yarn Social summer challenge, I’ve been giving into all the crafty whims. One of them has really paid off!
I was looking at knit headbands in relation to my new Pathfinder character (long story!), and I found out that the cute twist ones were just simple flat knitting or tubes with creative finishing. It came to me that I should be able to do that on Mom’s Dean and Bean Circular Sock Machine.
All you need to do is knit a tube on the machine (19″ for most adults, even 20″ for big heads, and 16″ for most kids). Make sure you leave a long tail on either end of your tube for sewing.

Once that’s done, use the ends to sew together the live ends. It doesn’t have to be pretty. You just need to seal both ends of the tube with no live stitches remaining. I used a whip stitch.
With your sealed rectangle, fold it in half like a hotdog bun. Then, bring the ends together into a stack alternating sides. Imagine if they were mouths, they’re eating each other.

Once that’s set up, sew through all four layers. I whip stitched one direction, back the opposite direction, and back the original direction, just to make sure nothing in the stack was missed.
Hide your ends in the tube, and your done! I made this trendy headband in less than an hour!

It’s been so great to get back in the crafty swing of things, and grateful for the reminder that good things can happen when you let your mind roam!
