A lot of things coming back to my Disney College Program lately!
When I lived in Orlando in 2016, there were no local yarn shops. There was a needlepoint shop that had an indie dyer come in on the third Saturday of the month, but as I was working in housekeeping at the time, it was almost impossible to get off during the weekend.
Fast-forward to now, where I am once again jet-setting to see my old college roommate, Rachel. She just bought a house near Orlando, and she is probably my best yarn-store-enabling travel buddy (who doesn’t yarncraft herself, anyway). Of course she managed to find a shop in Orlando proper, much to my surprise!
Knitcessities is tucked back in a little strip (Rachel and I drove right by it the first time), but it was chock full of great yarn, notions, and kind crafters. They were honestly so nice and chatty, I forgot to take my usual store pics!
They had what you would expect in a Florida yarn shop: lots of light yarns for the fair Florida weather. They also had an excellent selection of Noro yarns (one of my favorite LYS staples) and local hand-dyed yarn.

I ended up taking home the shop’s custom Olive & Two Ewe Twain colorway and a coordinating mini. I got Mom a super cool, fancier version of her go-to row counter.
Looking forward to visiting again when I return to the Sunshine State!
