Goodbye 2023

Happy New Year!

2023 was a year I was just happy to survive, but I’m still celebrating my wins (and acknowledging the losses) for my resolutions this year:

Wins: I did better on my MakeNine2023 than I did on my MakeNine2022!

Successes and failures in the MakeNine2023 grid

I had three finished objects, four WIPs, and only two that I did not start in the year. That’s way down from four the year before!

Orange striped machine-knit socks socks

I also did start using my rigid heddle loom (still a WIP, but it’s happening!), and I really got the hang of the sock knitting machine. Something just finally clicked at the last Dean and Bean Crank In, and it came at a time when I really needed it. So grateful for that!

And the Losses: I didn’t do hardly any apparel sewing this year. What I think really did it for me was being inspired by a friend who turned out to not be a very good friend after all. It made me sad just about every time I sat down to sew, so it didn’t really happen this year.

I also did not work on my Year of Stitch or decreasing my WIP count after all, just because so much of this year was me working to keep my head above water (which I successfully did!).

All said, I’m not too sad to say goodbye to 2023 and very excited for what 2024 could bring! Tune in next week for my 2024 crafty resolutions!
