Macrame Pumpkin

We’re taking a break from the regularly scheduled Ireland content for some spooky season fun!

Almost as much as I love Halloween, I love Aldi. Maybe it’s the nostalgia of going through the German candy around the holidays. Maybe it’s the cheaper, delicious groceries. It is definitely the Aisle of Shame™.

The AoS, as Aldi stans like to call it, is an aisle of random lifestyle or seasonal products that Aldi has for very cheap. You can get everything from $1 greeting cards to nice patio furniture (two of my friends have the set and love it!).

In one of my latest Aldi runs, I finally had a fiber arts AoS find: a beginner macramé pumpkin kit. Even better, it was only $2! I’ve never done real macramé (I did the plastic Rexlace lanyards in my Girl Scout years, but that’s as close as I’ve come), so I was excited for the challenge!

I will say, I had some trouble with the written instructions, especially with the square knot and crown knot (though the crown knot was probably user error). The pictures and the written instructions didn’t always add up. However, with some supplemental YouTube instruction, I was able to make the pumpkin!

Not only am I happy with my finished pumpkin (which I can add to my pumpkin collection), I had a lot of fun making it. I’m already scrolling through Pinterest for other macramé projects.

So, the next time your in Aldi, don’t skip that aisle. You may just find your next fiber adventure!
